We are here to help.
EDC is a lifeline for people faced with losing their homes.
EDC works to reach housing solutions through an integrated, collaborative approach that brings together free legal representation, rental assistance, and support for residents of homeless shelters. EDC provides support services that address root causes of homelessness and advocates for changes to address the unfairness and inequity in housing.
As the lead organization for San Francisco’s Tenant Right to Counsel (TRC) program, EDC works to level the playing field by providing legal representation– which has been shown to increase a defendant’s chance of avoiding homelessness by over 70%.
We focus on three key service areas aimed at preventing eviction and homelessness: legal assistance, rental assistance, and shelter client advocacy. Through these programs, along with our many partner organizations, EDC defends the rights of tenants in San Francisco.
EDC provides free legal representation and support to help level the playing field and keep people in their homes.
EDC’s Rental Assistance Disbursement Component (RADCo) helps tenants who are behind on rent, and assists by providing long-term subsidies for low-income tenants.
Through the Shelter Client Advocacy program, EDC monitors conditions and the application of shelter rules, and defends residents who are at risk of being evicted from shelters.
