Your Donation Will Help Keep our San Francisco Friends, Families, and Neighbors Housed.

At EDC, we believe that housing is a basic human right, and your support ensures that we can continue to fight to uphold this right, helping people stay in their homes and protecting San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations from eviction and homelessness.

With your help, we are able to provide free legal representation, rental assistance, and support for residents of homeless shelters. We also offer support services that address root causes of homelessness and advocates for changes to address the unfairness and inequity in housing. Our integrated, collaborative approach is a lifeline for people faced with losing their homes.

Your support enables us to take action, including:

  • Providing legal representation to tenants facing eviction as the lead organization for the Tenant Right to Counsel program– resulting in a 92% success rate of keeping people housed and helping tenants avoid homelessness.

  • Offering financial support to tenants experiencing temporary setbacks through our Rental Assistance programs, helping them avoid eviction and stay in their homes.

  • Defending shelter residents against unfair evictions and ensuring safe conditions for those in crisis.

Each year, our legal team assists more than 2,500 families and rental assistance program helps more than 600 families, preventing more than 80% of cases from going to trial and helping these families stay in their homes.

We’re committed to making the most of your contributions, with 96% of our budget going towards providing services to San Francisco tenants.
