Legal Assistance at EDC

We believe that housing is a basic human right. EDC fights to uphold this right, providing legal assistance to help people stay in their homes and protecting San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations.

When facing landlords and their attorneys and a complete legal system, everyday people struggle to defend their rights in court. EDC provides free legal representation and support to help level the playing field.

As the lead organization in the city’s Tenant Right to Counsel program, EDC partners with organizations across the city to provide full-scope legal representation to tenants facing eviction. Each year, we provide free legal services to more than 5,000 city residents.
